

KYLA MITCHELL
Visual Storyteller & Creative Collaborator

Kyla Mitchell, a Maryland native, is an aspiring media professional and a graduate from Howard University's Cathy Hughes School of Communications, where she earned a degree in Media, Journalism and Film with a minor in African American Studies. Graduating magna cum laude in May 2025 , Kyla demonstrated a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. She is also a two-time finalist for the HBCU in LA Summer Cohort.

Kyla's professional journey includes diverse experiences in production and operations, creative development, and teaching. She is currently a Production Coordinator at Nouveau Productions, where she contributes to filmed and live event production and project management. Her role as a Movie News Researcher for At The Movies involves analyzing upcoming films and delivering thoughtful insights for publication. Kyla also brings her expertise to youth empowerment through film instruction at Children's Legacy Theatre, where she recently helped produce their film, The Last Dying Wish.

Notable past experiences include serving as a Creative Assistant for Brent Faiyaz LLC, where she collaborated with creative directors to bring compelling visuals to life, and working with Zuri Productions to support black visual storytelling. On campus, Kyla has honed her leadership skills as Production Manager for the Howard University Spotlight Network and Assistant Director for the afro-surrealism anthology series, Where’s Everybody At. She has also participated in the HU TV Pilot Workshop, exploring the skills needed to develop an original drama pilot under the mentorship of industry professionals.
With a passion for storytelling that intersects with music, art, and cultural narratives, Kyla is driven to create innovative and inclusive content that amplifies underrepresented voices. She aspires to push boundaries in media and production, shaping the future of entertainment while championing diversity and authenticity.
